Music Portfolio
There are many categories in music.
Several categories have been included here to show my range, compositional
ability and technical skills. Each song was written and/or produced
to meet the specific challenges of a particular style. You need an
Mp3 player to hear these songs.
Soft Rock
Track 1: The Promise (Peretiatko, Davis)
The Promise is an example of a classic ballad.
It is rich in texture, with captivating lyrics and melody, and ends with
a great saxophone solo. It is an example of the type of song you
would hear on most commercial soft-rock radio stations.
Hard Rock
Track 2: Uptight (Ukase)
I produced Ukase, a punk style band, while in
college. When recording, it was essential to capture a live sound.
This cut
shows their energy and musicianship while playing
live in the studio.
Radio Commercial
Track 3: Loblaws commercial (Bryant)
This demo is a very clean generic jingle that
is upbeat and informative.
LOBLAWS COMMERCIAL
(Mp3. 411KB)
Instrumental & Soundtrack
Tracks 4, 5: These two pieces show diversity
and the use of different means and methods to accomplish a satisfying end
result.
2026 (Peretiatko)
This is an eclectic modern piece that makes use
of samples. It combines a 12th century Gregorian chant, an 18th century
Spanish love song and Leonard Nimoy reciting from Ray Bradbury's Martian
Chronicles.
Gigue Part 1 (Peretiatko's arrangement of J.S.
Bach)
This interpretation of Bach's piece was done
on the program Fruity Loops. I added a string arrangement to simulate
Wendy Carlos' electronic adaptation of Beethoven's music in the movie A
Clockwork Orange.
Crossover Music
Track 6: Salvador (Peretiatko, Davis)
The intention with this piece is to evince ethnic
flavouring. It is an example of a crossover - the blending of language
or styles to create hybrid pieces - which can be put to many commercial
uses.
World Music
Track 9: High Life (Peretiatko, Davis)
Like Salvador this piece has a distinctive ethnic
style, but now of an African flavour and includes chanting background harmonies.
It is different in that it uses samples of the band Amampondo.
Credits
