Dave Campion: Bodhran, Djembe, Side Drum, Drum Kit, Percussion

For many years Dave has been hitting things. Thankfully he can't recall any of them being people, but he does acknowledge that there aren't many things he hasn't tried to coax a sound of with his hands or a couple of sticks. He grew up in Toronto and got a degree in how to hit things musically at U of T. Over the years Dave has studied kit and hand percussion with lots of people and brings experience in many styles of music to the band. All over the world he's performed and recorded dozens of CDs playing classical and jazz, theatre shows and rock and roll, and African and Indian drumming.

When he's not having fun on stage with Shaggy, in the pit at the Stratford Festival or in concert with Canada's Juno award winning Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra he's teaching other people about hitting things as the percussion professor at Wilfrid Laurier University.

Dave lives in Stratford with his family and a black Lab named Berkly. His wife Anne and his kids Arielle and Dylan are a little worried about how spending long hours playing alongside bagpipes might affect his long term mental state, but so far they report no serious scarring. Only time will tell.

Mark Fletcher: Guitar, Whistle, Scottish Smallpipes, Great Highland Bagpipes

Mark's early musical experience was playing classical guitar and Flamenco style guitar. A brief period performing in the Bluegrass/Folk genre started Mark down a path to explore the Celtic repertoire, particularly the Great Highland bagpipe. From the first note he coaxed out of the pipes he knew he had found his musical home.

As the group's guitarist, Mark's primary responsibility is joining Paul in setting the necessary rhythms and chord changes to support the lead instruments and vocals. Periodically he will join the leads playing Bozouki whistle or Scottish small pipes.

Mark is a support musician for several groups, performs with the Perth County Pipe band and has established numerous music sessions in the Stratford district.

Barb Fulton: Vocals

Barbara Fulton is originally from Nova Scotia but has made her home in Stratford, Ontario since 1993. For the past 13 seasons she has been a member of the Stratford Festival Company appearing in plays and musicals. This season has Barb doing roles in "Oklahoma!" at the Festival Theatre and "Pentecost" at the Studio. This past summer she had the thrill of a lifetime singing with the Duke Ellington Orchestra on the Festival Stage. In December 2006 she released her first solo CD of jazz standards entitled "Somebody New". While jazz is a passion, singing songs in the Celtic tradition takes her back to her roots via the heart.

Ian Harper: Uilleann pipes, Irish Flute, Whistles

Ian studied Jazz arranging and composition at Humber College in the late 70's and has been working as a musician ever since. He plays flute, piccolo, alto and bass flutes, soprano, alto, tenor, baritone and bass saxophones, clarinet, bass clarinet, pennywhistles and Irish Flute as well as Highland pipes.

Growing up in small town Port Credit, Ontario, Ian studied guitar as a kid, but respectfully declines to add it to the mix of the Haggis! He was, however, given a Bodhran a couple of years ago from his lovely wife Donna-Claire, and is anything but shy about introducing it into the sets!!! Of course, now he has to endure the endless onslaught of Bodhran jokes, which, to tell the truth is no where near the abuse he takes from bagpipe jokes....

Ian has been a member of the Stratford Festival Orchestra, playing all of the above instruments at one time or another, for 29 years.

Lindsay Schindler: Fiddle

Lindsay began studying Suzuki Violin at five years old, and a few years later was introduced to fiddling. As a young fiddler she was a part of the Canadian Celtic Kids and later Celtic Fire which traveled to perform in Ireland, Japan, Canada and the United States, introducing Suzuki students and teachers to fiddling. Lindsay continued her studies in music with Scott St. John at the University of Toronto and pursued Suzuki teacher training and developed her own studio of students. Currently, Lindsay is teaching a busy studio at the London Suzuki Music Centre. Her most important new role is mom to Cole who loves to sit in on Shaggy Haggis rehearsals adding squeals and percussion to the mix.

Paul Shilton: Piano, Bass, Accordion, Djembe

Paul is a graduate of the Queen’s University music program. As a composer and accompanist he has worked for many Canadian theatres including the Stratford Festival. He composed and performed the music for “Dark Lady of the Sonnets”, a Stratford/CBC Radio co-production recorded live at the Glenn Gould studio. He is the bass player for the Festival City Big Band and performs and records with his wife Barbara Fulton.
