WELCOME TO
THE WORKING ACCOUNTANT'S PAGE
WE ARE THE
GUILD
OF
INDUSTRIAL,
COMMERCIAL AND INSTITUTIONAL ACCOUNTANTS
"The Guild" was granted a charter by the
Government of Canada on March 9th, 1961 with the purposes and objects as follows:
1.) to provide
an organization for experienced accountants other than licensed public accountant, 2.) to
promote, support and foster interest in and the study of vocational accountancy general,
and 3.) to encourage and sponsor the introduction, development and acceptance of modern
accounting principles, methods and practices.
Since inception the Guild has actively encouraged membership participation in the
accounting profession at all levels and in the activities of the Guild itself. Our members
represent the entire country geographically and many levels of professional activity. We
"cover the globe" literally.
Communications are of prime concern to inform members of Guild activities and we
publish a quarterly "Journal" which serves as the main means of keeping members
up to date on Guild matters. The Journal also serves to provide information to members
about the accounting profession, federal tax matters, computers both hardware and
software, and milestones in changes in status of members as well as listing new members.
The purpose of this Web page is to:
1. encourage membership applications from qualifying
persons worldwide.
2.provide a forum for members to communicate with
other members and with the National Council of the Guild.
3. use the vast resources of the Internet to benefit
members by assisting in research of accounting related matters.
4. assist interested persons in learning more about
Canada and Canadian commerce.
The Guild of Industrial, Commercial and Institutional Accountants members are the
professionals who are the technically qualified persons who ensure accounting matters are
handled competently and efficiently be the challenge book-keeping, taxes, or business
planning. We are your friends and neighbours, active in the community and interested in
the betterment of the communities in which we live.
The Guild has two levels of membership.
Applications for membership are submitted to an Accreditation Committee and if
qualifications are met the applicant is granted standing as an Accredited Member and is
entitled to use the initials I.C.I.A. as a designation of competentcy. Other applicants
without the educational or working background may be granted Associate status pending
furthering of education and/or experience.
Our goal is to advance the Guild to encompass all accounting and related business
functions and to help advance careers and career opportunities, We are workers and doers
in this commercial world of ours and belonging to our Guild will provide a forum for
co-operation with your peers.
