W-Mail -- Gunfire, Radio Station, and Science Fair

Dear Friends and Family:
Another month has passed. This is just a short update as to our current affairs. I write this as gunfire echoes in the distance. Not to worry we are not in danger. Just a reminder of the situation of the country we live in and how things are often handled. Even in past weeks I was falsely accused by a previous worker who tried to take matters into his own hands and sent the armed guards to come and fetch me. We had tried to resolve the issue one on one but it was not to his satisfaction. We praise God for his continual protection. It is often difficult to know how to proceed and we always pray that the believers will not yield to the temptation of money. The issue is not yet resolved but thanks to our local Chadian administrator the situation has been put into proper legal proceedings. You can keep this in prayer as the issue has been remanded until the end of the month. We are confident as we know in whom be believe.
I have written before of the upcoming installation of the first FM Christian radio station in the south of Chad. This is the second in the country as the Pentecostals run one out of the capital. We pray that this will be a key Gospel outreach as the people here in Chad are very attuned to their little radios. The radio is like the newspaper, radio and TV all wrapped up in one, for the Chadian. It is their only media. As many remain illiterate, radio in their own language is an effective tool. I am pleased to report that the work is coming along well with the help of Galcom and a team from the US. I will be travelling there Monday morning after spending the night in one of our bush stations (Lai) on the way. This will give us a short 2hr hop Monday morning at 5am so we can get an early start on the work. It is a minimum of 5hrs by motorcycle into one of the more remote villages in Chad. I will be finishing up some of the solar/electrical installations. I will be accompanied by a Chadian coworker (Adoum) on his motorcycle. Pray for safety on the road as bandits like to lurk in the evening and night. We do not plan to travel during these times because of this. Pray that the motorcycles will run well without mishap or breakdown. Pray for wisdom as we install the equipment. The weather is already hot... low-mid 40C by 10am. This makes travel and work strenuous.
Kathy continues to teach. The heat and mango season bring on the battle of allergies. Pray for comfort and protection. Today we enjoyed a really nice lunch prepared by the girls taking her home-economics class. It was a test of their learning. Next weekend she will be hosting the annual school fair. This year it is once again a Science Fair. This is always fun for the students and missionary community alike. It will be followed by a potluck sandwich supper for all.
