Social Justice & Outreach For more information, you can contact the parish office at 519-893-6960 or parish@golden.net to obtain the Ministry Leader’s name and phone number.
All ministries follow the Diocese of Hamilton’s volunteer screening initiatives.
St. Vincent de Paul Society The St. Vincent de Paul Society offers food, clothing, housing, and financial support to the needy of the Stanley Park area. Members also organize special hamper, material, and financial collection programs, as well as food projects and occasional fund raising activities. Their regular meetings include prayer and spiritual reading. There is no minimum or maximum time limit for volunteers; new members are integrated gradually. Requirements are an open heart and mind, willingness to share your gifts, a mature personality, and desire to practice your faith.
Refugee Committee This ministry assists refugees with clothing, food, furniture, jobs, housing, immigration assistance, etc. The ministry leader meets with newcomers and works with St. Vincent de Paul Society. Time, interest, willingness to help are necessary. Ability to speak other language(s) is helpful.
Social Awareness/Development and Peace This group is a local branch of the international Catholic association for Development and Peace which seeks to promote awareness of Third World issues. Members coordinate spring and autumn education and action campaigns in the parish, support Share Lent and use of monthly envelopes, decide on the use of funds raised, and raise awareness through speakers and videos at parish events. Willingness to get involved is a must, research skills are an asset.
