Sacraments

Baptism

Baptism of children is celebrated on the last Sunday of each month.  Two months notice is usually required. Please complete a Baptism application form, found on the Welcome Desk in the church foyer, and return it to our pastor at weekend Mass.  A member of the Baptism team will contact you for an initial information-gathering session, and the Baptism date will be set at that time.  Baptism preparation for parents and sponsors is held the second Tuesday of each month.  May the life of Christ in you be strengthened and renewed as you participate in the Sacrament of Baptism for your child!

Adults who wish to receive the Sacrament of Baptism prepare through the process of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (see RCIA).  Please leave your name and phone number with a member of the pastoral team or our receptionist at the parish office.  A member of the RCIA team will contact you.

Marriage

Please make an appointment to meet with our pastor.  We require at least nine months notice before a marriage date can be set.  A preparation program focusing on important issues, relationship skills, and the meaning of the marriage covenant is required.  Blessings on your relationship—you are in our prayers.  May you be a sign of God’s love to all!

Reconciliation

Saturdays 3:30-4:30 p.m. or by appointment

Six signs that it may be time to go to confession:

·        I am getting impatient, uptight, and hard to get along with.

·        I feel a lot of self-pity.

·        I am afraid of the future.

·        I don’t marvel when God does good things in my life or in someone else’s life.

·        I would rather do anything than pray, go to Church or read spiritual literature.

·        My own personal sign (i.e. trouble sleeping, not hungry, etc.).

If any or all of these signs are present in your life, it may be time to seek God’s mercy in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Vocations to Priesthood/Religious Life

Have you ever wondered whether God is calling you to Priesthood or Religious Life?  Please feel free to talk to our pastor, members of the pastoral team, or contact the Diocesan Vocational Director, Father Kevin Cull, at 905-528-7988.  You might also want to explore the Diocese of Hamilton Vocations website.  (link…..)  We will keep your process of discernment in our prayers.

Sacrament of the Sick

If someone in your family or a friend is seriously sick or confined to home, let your parish know of the person’s illness.  The Sacrament of the Sick is not only for the dying.  It can be celebrated with those who are diagnosed with life-threatening illness, patients before surgery, elderly people, and sick children old enough to be comforted by the sacrament.  Family members are encouraged to be present to participate in this celebration of God’s healing love.  The parish community can also support the sick person with prayer.  Please phone the parish office.

When Someone Has Died

It is fitting to contact your parish (or the priest or pastoral minister on call at the hospital) immediately when a loved one has died.  At this time, the Church provides prayers of commendation, and prayers for the deceased, the family and friends.

Eucharist to the Sick

Please contact the parish office if you wish Holy Communion to be brought to the sick.  Our parish family will also support them and their families with prayer.
