. Signing Babies#1: Joshua (14 months): We were on our way to a friend's house for dinner, but we were not sure if they would have milk. So my husband and I were talking about dropping by a nearby supermarket to pick up some milk for the children to consume. As soon as Joshua heard the word milk, he signed MILK. I was thrilled because I did not know that he was actually paying attention to our conversation and was so eager to be part of it.
#2: Nicholas (17 months): We were on our way to a restaurant to have dinner with our friends. On the way there, he was playing with my hair clip. By the time we arrived, he accidentally dropped it and we could not get it out; it was stuck between his car seat. We did not want our friends to wait for us, so I told Nicholas that daddy would get it out and we would have to go meet Auntie Lorraine at the restaurant first. After dinner, I forgot about the hair clip completely. We got into the car, and buckled him up. Then Nicholas started to sign HAIR CLIP. I was very surprised by his good memory. I did not expect a child of such a young age to remember about this little hair clip at all.
