WATERLOO DAIRY  PRODUCER COMMITTEE October 9, 2002

 

           

 


ATTENDANCE: Dennis, Chuck, Pat, Rob, Lew, Ryan, Matthew, Paul and John, regrets: Brad

Dennis called the meeting to order at 8:10 pm , went over the agenda.

 

MINUTES: Rob made a motion to accept them as printed, seconded by Chuck, carried.

CORRESPONDENCE:  Update on Dairy Educator, presently booking and doing presentations in schools, also gave notice that she will not be returning as educator for next school year. Will start contacting new educator from the current list. Pat has them on file

Durham region committees contacted Pat regarding dairy educator concerns regarding the workshops in summer. Also to notify us of their proposal to DFO listed in the letter on file with minutes.

FALL POLICY CONFERENCE MEETING:  Rob, Pat, Ryan and Matthew will attend, which will be held at the Nottawasaga Inn in Alliston.

FALL PRODUCER MEETING:  Pat will send out flyer this week, also was in the Sept. statement and will be on the October statement as well. Paul will pick up power point projector from Fergus OMAFRA  office. Pat will take care of refreshments.  John and Paul will give presentations with time for questions.

WWDD: A joint meeting will be held in Elmira at the Stone crock on October 28th at 7:30 pm.

ANNUAL MEETING:  Will be held the first Monday in February, the 3rd. starting at 10:30 am. Pat will contact Karen Cressman to cater dinner. Dennis will send an official letter to Gord Goukell the DFO chair to be our guest speaker.

JOHN PALMER DFO BOARD MEMBER:  John covered 15 items for our attention. 1. fall incentive days. 2. edible oil products act. 3. dead stock changes. 4. communications programs to review dairy educator program. 5. tank rejections - malty milk. 6. ultra kosher milk. 7. total cream shipments 8. CMSMC "MSQ trigger" 9. board governance issues. 10. presentation by rural ag. crime coordinator. 11. Saguenay rally 12. Ontario conference for dairy industry organizations to be organized for new year 13. 3 acclamations, Saunders, Henderson and Emmott 14. John Core CDC Chairman and 15. Raw milk quality program audit - good reports.

PAUL NORRIS:  Paul covered Production results for Waterloo and province, quality results for Waterloo and province, Quota exchange results for Waterloo and province, GM report composition results for Waterloo and province averages and some news releases see handout on file.

NEW BUSINESS: budget to be approved next meeting in Toronto, Christmas dinner to be held at the Palmers on Dec 7th, 2002 8:00 pm. Pat to contact Lois and invite to dinner.
