1. Softball Canada, P.W.S.A., C.A.S.A., rules will apply throughout the tournament with the exception of those herein.
2. This is a participation
tournament. Hence the following rules have been inserted to
facilitate this.
- All players on the roster will bat in all games. (See exemption below.)
-There is a free defensive substitution in all games.
-Pitchers can pitch only four (4) innings or twelve (12) outs in any one game,
but can pitch in all their teams games.
-You may assign a player to be a Designated Runner (DR) for the game. This
player may not play defensively in the field, or bat.
The (DR) is only allowed to run once every inning for any player who safely
reaches base. In the event of an injury the (DR) may take the place of the
injured player at bat or in the field without penalty. However the injured
player may not re-enter the game, and the (DR) position is vacated.
(There will be no other exemptions for players from batting)
(An exemption for players, from batting, will
be allowed if injured during the tournament or if health reasons exist currently
that can be proven to the convener before the tournament)
3. Each team may sign only 18 players to their roster. This includes the allowance of 3 pick-up players for the tournament. All pick-ups must be added to the roster form and written permission filed with the roster form or 1/2hr before the start of your first game. This must be obtained by the manager and/or coach that these players play with on a regular basis. All rosters shall include players full names, and numbers and the contact information of the team staff. (Names, address, phone, etc.) No players may be added to your roster after your first game has begun.
4. Games will be 1hr and 20min. in length or 7 innings, for the round robin. No inning shall start after this time. If an inning starts and then time runs out the inning shall be played to completion and the game is over. Games can end tied, even if time has not run out. All teams shall be ready to play 15 minutes prior to game time.
5. There is no infield practice allowed in fair territory. NO PRACTICE IN PLAYING TERRITORY WHILE THE GROUND CREW IS ON THE DIAMOND.
6. A flip of the coin will
decide home and visiting team for the round robin portion of the tournament
only!
Playoff round home teams, are determined by points earned in round robin play.
7. All decisions by the umpires are final. This means there is no protesting calls. Politely you may request an explanation.
8. The round robin standings will determined as follows :
1) win Vs loss record
2) on the basis of points (win=2 points, tie=1 point, loss=0 points)
3) plus-minus ( runs for and against )
4) fewer total runs against.
If there is STILL a tie, then a flip of the coin will determine the team with higher standing.
9. All teams are guaranteed 4 games. The
format for the tournament will be issued to all teams prior to the tournament,
but the official format for the tournament
will be posted at the park. Please check this prior to your first game to
ensure you are playing in the right spot.
Note: Any teams scheduled to start the tournament will be notified by
phone of changes 48hrs prior to the tournament.
10. Playoff round games shall go 1hr 20minutes. No inning starting after this time. If there is no winner after the time limit or 7innings has been played the international tie breaker will go into effect and play will continue until a winner is decided. Championship games shall have no time limit and be played 7 innings. The international tie breaker shall go into effect after the 7th inning if a tie occurs.
11. Home team will supply the
official score keeper and is responsible for keeping umpire informed of
inning and score.
Both teams will report the final score to the
tournament convener (this is a
MUST)!
12. Mercy rule, 15 runs after 3 innings or 10 after 5 innings.
13. Fighting of any kind will result in an ejection from the tournament.
14. Matching shirts will be the minimum required uniform.
15. There is no rain date.
16. Parking is at the owners risk.
17. All teams must be ready to play Friday night!
18. It is understood by the teams entering our tournament that it is the managers and/or coaches responsibility to explain to their players and supporters that the Angels Softball Club, will accept NO responsibilities for any injuries occurring to any players and/or fans no matter how caused.
