THE
MAN
BEHIND
THE MUSIC
|
I have always wanted to get to know Elvis
-- who the man behind the music was. I had never met Elvis and only
knew about him through books, media coverage, his television performances,
music, movies and interviews, as well as, conversations that I had with
members of his family, friends, work associates and fans -- in general,
PEOPLE who were related to him, met him or knew him.
Through these interactions, I learned that
Elvis was a very intelligent, well-learned and complex man. He was
a very admirable, compassionate, caring, honest, humble, God-fearing man
-- a gentleman in the true sense of the word, and a very kind, loving,
polite and generous individual.
From the rags to riches story, Elvis realized
the American dream come true. From a humble beginning, he worked
hard all his life directing his God-given talent to create a legacy of
music for everyone to enjoy. Very early in life, as a result of his
efforts, he realized all the benefits that life has to offer -- fame, fortune
and success. All the while he experienced the fruits of his labour,
he never forgot his humble beginnings -- the two-room house that he lived
in or the roots from where he came. Because of this harsh beginning,
it was important to him "to help your brother along the way" and all through
his life he practised what he believed in and extended a helping hand to
his family, friends, work associates and people he heard of who were in
need. He was a great humanitarian, who helped others and gave generous
donations annually to many charities and fundraising causes -- never expecting
anything more for his help than a simple thank you. To all those
whose lives he touched, he gave great love, friendship, trust, respect,
help and kindness. He will always be highly revered, loved and respected
by his fans and all those who knew him.
He will go down in the history books as
the man who changed the course of music in the 20th century and will be
forever known as the world's Greatest Entertainer. He will be remembered
for his invigorating singing style, dynamic stage performances, incredible
sense of humour, infectious laugh, insatiable smile, extreme virile handsomeness
and his kind, generous love for humanity.
Apart from his love for gospel, rhythm
and blues, and rock'n roll music, his interest in martial arts and humanitarian
work of helping people; his interests also included reading hundreds of
books in the areas of religion, philosophy, spiritual teachings, metaphysics
and esoteric arts. He was a self-taught learned man, fully knowledgeable
and conversant in these subject areas. His interests further included
exploring the realms of astrology and numerology with a view to understanding
how these influences governed his life.
Through my reading and conversations with
those who knew him, I learned that Elvis was a very spiritual man.
He believed in the Lord God Almighty. He read the Bible daily and
was well versed in its scriptures. He kept God in his life and was
known to give thanks to God publicly for his family, his singing
talents and all that he had. He was God-fearing and remained forever
humble in the eyes of the Lord. He believed in living by God's Word,
in life after death, in reincarnation and in the power of prayer.
He often held religious discussions with friends, work associates and small
groups of fans and shared or taught them his understanding of God's Word.
He studied and practised the art of hands-on healing, telepathic communication
and meditation techniques so he could reach an altered state of consciousness
that would enable him to go within to get closer to the Lord.
His family and friends reported that he
was known to have experienced an angelic visitation in his youth;
and, also reported that in his thirties, he witnessed a vision of our Lord,
Jesus Christ, in the sky one afternoon which Elvis concluded was
God's confirmation of His presence. Also, family and friends reported
and witnessed Elvis's ability to administer the healing powers of God through
his hands to the wife of one of his work associates and to one of his members
of his female gospel back-up singers. Many people who I have
interviewed have told me that his music provided a healing for them.
Some people have said that his music gave them comfort, and helped see
them through difficult times in their lives, such as periods of depression,
lengthy illness, turmoil, loneliness and grief; and, others have told me
that his music brought them much happiness and gave them a joyous escape
from the drudgery and stressful aspects of their day-to-day living.
I too have experienced and benefited from the healing powers of his gospel
music -- and am truly thankful to God for Elvis and believe
that the music Elvis produced for us to enjoy provided a channel for God's
healing powers to come through to comfort or heal us. Elvis was indeed
a very talented and gifted person who gave us a beautiful legacy of uplifting
and healing music. Both he and his music are a very special gift
given to us by God.
In my pursuit to find who the man behind
the music was, I learned that throughout Elvis' lifetime, he soul searched
for his meaning to life and conducted a spiritual search to understand
his destiny and purpose for living. In the mid-sixties, Elvis concluded
that he was destined to fulfill two purposes in his lifetime as Elvis.
One, was to create a new style of music that made people happy; and the
other, was to perform a higher purpose or service for God. He searched
endlessly throughout his life to understand the meaning assigned to his
higher purpose. In the last five years of Elvis' life, he concluded
that his higher purpose was to lead people to God, and that he would do
this by singing songs of faith and inspiration and also by preaching God's
word to those who would come to hear him sing. In the last year of
his stage performances, he was known to interject gospel songs, thoughts
of inspiration, and passage readings from the Bible. -- He struggled
with the idea of how he would move through the transition from entertainer
to preacher so he could fulfill his destiny as a preacher of God's Word
more fully; and saw himself someday in the future holding religious revivals
that would enable him to fulfill his destiny by leading people to
the Lord. Due to his untimely, early death, he was unable to realize
the role of preacher as he intended in his lifetime. Even though
he did not become a preacher in the traditional sense as we know it, he
was revered by many he worked with as, "a preacher through music."
On stage, he celebrated his worship for God with his audience, and sang
his praises to God through these performances and record releases of his
carefully selected, chosen and produced gospel music and songs of faith
and inspiration -- thus, while on Earth, he began to fulfill his unordained
ministry of working in God's light by worshipping, sharing his faith and
God's Word and His Promises with people -- thus, leading people to God
through his music.
Over the years, I have been searching for
new information that would tell more about the man behind the music
-- who Elvis was, who he is now in his afterlife and the work that he was
destined to do. I was looking for these answers when much to my surprise,
I found a book about Elvis that was channelled and written by Elvis from
his afterlife! Imagine my excitement when I found this book, as Elvis
himself provides the answers that I was interested in finding!!!
I was over joyed to have found this as Elvis speaks to us in first person
through the conscious channel, Paula Farmer. This book's title is:,
"Elvis Aaron Presley, His Growth and Development
as a Soul Spirit within the Universe."
Since finding this book, I have read it several times and each
time I get something different out of it. It has enabled me to understand
his past life and his destiny through his eyes; and, has helped me to realize
the importance of understanding my own!
After reading this book, I now know
that Elvis is fulfilling his destiny in his afterlife and is now
serving his higher purpose of helping people through the messages of love,
hope and inspiration that he delivers within his book.
As a Soul Spirit, his gift to society is
to enlighten as many of us as possible with the knowledge he has
acquired through his spiritual journey.
This book is truly a fascinating read!
It gives INSIGHT to Elvis, who the man behind the music was and is today;
INSIGHT to the mysteries of life after death, and INSIGHT to why it is
important for us to understand ourselves while we are still living on Earth.
