The little Sidekick that could!

Submitted by Don Miller
Last summer, on a trip Ruidoso N.M. in our Motor home,we were pulling our Sidekick ,and as luck would have it,the motor home had a fuel pump failure rendering the engine inoperative. We could not find a place on the side of the road to park and fix the problem,so with my wife driving and me PUSHING the motor home, we made it to a roadside park. That was about two miles. After trying to find the problem and not having any success, I decided against leaving the motor home in the park after dark, this meant PUSHING the motor home another twenty miles to the next town. Dropping the transfer case in low 4 wheel drive and putting the front wheels in 4 wheel drive, we began the quest. Now the motor home weighs in at 22,500 lbs. and the roads in West Texas are not exactly flat, but we were able to carefully speed up to 25 miles per hour and hold that speed even up the hills. The sidekick never ran hot nor had any problems at all.The only thing that did happen,a highway patrolman came by and just waved, did not seem to see anything wrong with my sitting in the Sidekick and my wife driving the motor home.Guess he thought we had some fight.
By the way, this 1989 Sidekick had 134,345 miles when the trip was made.
