History:
We
offer a friendly but competitive game of pick-up hockey. (We are not a league.) Our games are
always 90 minutes long; not the typical one hour rentals. And we play
year round. Slap shots are allowed, as is some minimal contact (scrimmages
along the boards); but no full body hits. We typically have two goalies 99% of
the time, but accidents will happen on rare occasions.
Our
players range in age from 16-55, but most of us are in our 30's, 40's and
50’s. Skill levels will typically vary also, but we generally have a
decent all round game. All players are welcome. However, to keep the game fun
and mobile, we prefer to limit attendance to experienced players. No
beginners please.
New Players:
As
the slogan says, new players are always welcome. (Goalies please see below.)
However, we use an on-line sign up system that limits our turnouts to 20
skaters. New players must familiarize themselves with the sign up system and
our automated waiting list if they intend to play. The links above provide

The Sign Up System:
To
get started, you must click on the above link that says “Log into the
Sign Up System”. Create a user name and a password. After that, you
should be able to book ice.
However, the sign up system is based on seniority. Regular players can book for
the season. All other players may only book ice the week of the game. New
players are not permitted to book ice until 72 hours before game time. If you
are on the list of 20 players, you are expected to play. No-shows are frowned
upon, as there are always others prepared to play. No-shows are billed $10 if
the sign up sheet was full. Players who frequently do not show up are deleted
from the sign up.
The Automated Waiting
List:
Frequently, you will find our sign up is full. Do not be discouraged, as our
system also generates an automated waiting list. Frequently on game days,
positions become available when our regulars elect not to play that night. When
they remove themselves from the sign up, the first person on the waiting list
is activated to play and notified via e-mail.
Tips for the waiting list:
1. When creating your account, use the e-mail address you check most
frequently.
2. Always check both your e-mail and our sign up one hour before game time to
determine if you were activated.
3. Make sure your spam filter is cleared to accept e-mails from goldnova@golden.net
and mike@acorg.com.
Goalies:
We
currently have two regular goalies. However, if you're seeking additional ice
time, and you want to be placed on my call-up list, feel free to call. Those
goalies making themselves available for call-up will have a greater chance of
becoming a regular, in the event one of our current regulars moves on.
