Where do we get all these collectable items from?

The items available on this site are from our personal or from other collectors collection. Over the years we have obtained all sorts of different collectable items from many different sources. There are also items listed that are owned by other collectors as well. New items are added regularly as people advertise their collections here and/or as we find more items to sell.

Why are we selling these collectables?

We are selling these collectables because many people out there have things to sell and many people would like to buy. Over the years, we have just collected too many things and it is time to clear some of it out (mainly because we move a lot for work and we get sick of moving it all). Also, as of late we have focussed our collecting habits on certain things and so items that don't fit in our collection, we figured we would get rid of and offer it to those whose collection it would fit into.

How do we determine the price of an item?

Price is determined using a number of sources. Price guides are often used as a basis for the cost. However, we usually offer the various items for lower than the guide indicates. Admittedly, some of the prices are estimates but we always try to be reasonable. We try to look at the market to determine cost. Also, a few items have more of a sentimental value than others which sometimes plays a role in pricing an item, though we try not to let our emotions get the best of us.

What is the exchange rate between Canadian and US dollars used when calculating price?

The price of the item is given in Canadian dollars and US dollars. The price listed which is not in a bracket is the actual amount of the item. The bracketed amount is an approximation based upon current exchange rates. Most items are listed in Canadian currency and have a US approximation. Any item purchased must be paid for in Candian dollars and in the amount agreed upon in Candian currency. When getting your money order, the conversion will be done then and you will pay the bank or post office the equivalent amount in US dollars (which is approximately the listed amount in brackets). The only exceptions to all this occurs when you are dealing with someone else who has listed an item on this site. When you inquire about an item which belongs to someone else, we will forward your inquiry to them and you will arrange payment with them in their currency (usually the price which is not in brackets).

What do items marked by ** mean?

These are items owned by another collector who have listed their items on our site. Because these items are not owned by us, we cannot guarantee that they are available. We do our best to ensure that the items are available by routine checks with the seller to verify the information. If you decide to order an item marked by a ** then you will deal directly with the seller.

Because these items are owned by other collectors they do not qualify for any special offer, feature or discount by Far 'N Away Collectibles.

How do I order an item marked by **?

Order these items as would any other item by using our order page. When we receive your order, we forward it to the seller who will contact you to discuss payment and shipping options. You will deal directly with the seller. Our only role is to forward your order. However, we are available to act as a third party for payment.

Why do you show items that have been sold?

Items that have been sold are shown for a short period of time afterwards. This gives people who have been thinking about the purchase the chance to realize that the item is gone. It is there basically to save time for both you and me. If you see that an item has been sold, you don't have to inquire about it.

Can I offer a different price then what you are asking?

We do accept offers other than the listed price. We try to offer low prices, but occassionally an item just isn't worth what we are asking. If you see something you like and aren't sure if you are willing to pay the listed price, then make an offer and we will go from there. We are usually reasonable if you are.

Isn't "collectables" spelled "collectibles"?

This is one of the most common questions we receive. Since the site has been changed to Far 'N Away Collectibles it hasn't been much of an issue since most people spell it as "collectibles." However, the original site name was Donovan's Collectables and was spelled with an "a." Both spellings are correct and mean the same thing.
