Bachelor Recipe #10
Apple Crisp
Bummed out over ... well ... anything?. Try making this comfort food.
You need:
8 x 8 inch square cake pan or something similar (greased).
7 apples
2 & 1/2 heaping tablespoons flour
2 & 1/2 heaping tablespoons brown sugar
dash salt
1 heaping tablespoon oatmeal flakes
1/4 cup butter
You do:
-
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
-
Peel apples using a knife or preferably a vegetable peeler.
Using a sharp, thin, paring knife cut apples into quarters. Scoop out the seeds and slice the quarters into the greased 8x8 pan. Add about 1 tablespoon of water.
-
Mix together the flour, brown sugar, salt and oats. Cut in the cold butter using two blunt knives. You don't have to do a good job - just as long as there are no big gobs of butter.
-
Shake the flour mixture over the apples and pop in the oven uncovered.
-
About 35 minutes later, you have apple crisp and you don't care about those stories about other people's exciting lives.
