THE POLITICAL LEFT
Communist Party (PCL)
Extreme left wing major party
Popularity: 65
The Communist party has a long tradition of being involved in politics in Neoliliana. Rather than taking the hard-lined revolutionary stance as in the Old Continent, the Neoliliani Communists attempted to gain the support of the populace by sound policies and popular conversion. This strategy has not seemed to work, for the Communist party never has never received more than 20% of the popular vote ever, and its grasp on politics has slipped since the introduction of newer, more moderate left-wing parties such as the Socialists. Nevertheless, the Communists have played a party in several governments, and their influence has been felt in all sectors of Neoliliani life - industry, labour, health care, justice, international politics, and the environment. Some pundits say that the Neoliliani citizenry like it that way - all the benefits of Communism with none of the drawbacks.
FINANCE: Neoliliana needs to change its misguided and tight-fisted policies; that is what has driven the country into recession. With such a bountiful nation, anything is possible! We must immediately begin funding of national programs designed not only to provide jobs in the short term, but to create an atmosphere that will sustain the growth needed to pull ourselves out of these troubled times.
INTERIOR: The government must take action in the private sector, or
businesses will fail, causing disruption of the people. The government
needs to use its unique position and power to legislate more fiscal control
over industry and take control of key companies in the private sector to
provide competition for the fattened businesses that take money from the
pockets of the workers! -Favours the death penalty.
-Unclear policies regarding the constitution.
DEFENCE: The Guard is not only a symbol of power and a means of defending
ourselves, it is also a proven success at keeping crime down, providing
emergency support, and keeping Neoliliana safe and secure. We must increase
funding to the armed forces. We can use many of the new soldiers in national
programs to increase infrastructure.
-Favours continued maintenance of NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical)
weapons, including a nuclear arsenal, for self-defence.
EXTERIOR: Neoliliana should open its arms to the world and help it embrace
the ideals that are Longerathian Communism. Other countries, especially
those having emerged from underneath the feet of dictators, should be aided
so that they can repair their economies and develop, in their own time,
the ultimate government.
-Supports the UPRMI as a brother in communism!
-Supports the struggle in Western Uhlan
-Against the dictatorship in Ulanova
-Against Eastern Zartania; wants to make a UNV resolution to decry
their intervention in Maryport and Rio Nolo.
-Supports continuing membership in the FCC and supports its member
states
-Against independence for Western Goramia; supports the use of the
military to quell so-called separatist movements and declaring all independence
parties illegal as traitors to the state
-Supports independence for Melga, even at the risk of war
-Neutral on the subject of Westria
-Neutral on the subject of Estontetso; willing to discuss land exchange
-Supports the annexation of southern Maryport as a buffer state against
the anarchy in Rio Nolo -Supports recognition of emerging states
-Neutral on the subject of Longerath
-Supports recognition of Syattica
-Against signing of the Valarium Pact
-Neutral on the subject of Draconia
Leaders: Daryd Miller (former government minister) Leadership
6
The son of a wealthy senator, Miller used his family's influence and
wealth to start a successful human rights group in Svaasand. He was asked
to join politics and became a senator. He is often thought of as being
a little too old for the job of First Minister.
Slogan: "Bringing the government back to the hands of the people."
The Liliani movement is the predecessor to the Communist party, the original leftist political party in Neoliliana. The name stems from the fact that in Neoliliani, the word "Lelane" can mean "Neoliliani," "Neoliliana," "Liliani," or "the Liliani Empire". This has caused outsiders some confusion. The party was originally formed from intellectuals who were disgusted with the Republic and wanted to bring power into the hands of the people, as the revolution was supposed to have done. At the same time, they have always been a staunch supporter of the country and its governments, as the rightfully elected representatives of the people - thus, they are Neoliliani, and for Neoliliana. Since the introduction of Communism to Neoliliana, the Liliani Movement suffered abysmally in the polls. Over the last century, it has steadily moved to the right, to distinguish itself from its rival. In recent years, it has been recognized as a very confused ideology, which may explain its lack of growth. Originally the Movement was thought to be radical and suspect, which is perhaps why they are so adamantly nationalist, and also perhaps why they still suffer from a poor showing in the polls, despite huge support on paper.
FINANCE: A federal reserve should be made in order to ensure that the country does not suffer from another disastrous general strike.
INTERIOR: The government is a poor master of properties; it should privatize
all but the most essential public utilities and use the money from this
sale to support the creation of small, independent businesses.
-Supports the use of the death penalty
-Supports the constitutional changes needed to usher in the Fifth Republic
DEFENCE: Supports the military.
-Against maintaining NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) stockpiles
in Neoliliana, and wishes to disarm them.
EXTERIOR: Neoliliana needs to become more involved in the world around
it; in a global market, isolating oneself with tariffs and duties will
only hurt future generations.
-Supports the UPRMI
-Supports West Uhlan; believes Neoliliana should recognize the communist
insurgency and act to provide relief to the people
-Neutral on the subject of Ulanova
-Supports contact with Eastern Zartania; is willing to ignore their
intervention in Maryport
-Supports continuing membership in the FCC and its members
-Against independence for Western Goramia without a clear mandate for
secession
-Supports independence for Melga, regardless of the cost
-Supports further relations with Westria
-Supports Estontetso; believes that Neoliliana should sign a treaty
giving up all claim to Estontal, and exchange land along ethnic and linguistic
divides with Estontetso
-Supports intervention in Ennes to protect the ethnic Neoliliani living
there
-Supports recognition of emerging states
-Supports the idea of a Longerathian League of Nations to provide increased
trade and diplomatic opportunities in Vexillium
-Against recognition of Syattica
-Supports signing of the Valarium Pact
-Supports stronger relations with Draconia, especially in regards to
dealing with Maryport
Leaders: Mereth Arensson (former Exterior Minister), Leadership

and a lively conversationalist.

Liberty/Anti-Imperialist Party (PLA)
Left wing minor party
Popularity: 0
A relatively new political party, formed about a year ago from disenfranchised Democrats and Republicans, and independent political newcomers. It is a solid voice opposed to Imperialism, anywhere on the globe. Supported mainly by intellectuals, it is just beginning to grow in the general population. It is hoping that an anti-Imperialist nation will come to its aid.
FINANCE: The people of Neoliliania are paying far too many taxes, and that is part of the problem of our country's slow economic growth. They are lowering the standard of life for the average citizen. Lower them immediately!
INTERIOR: The purpose of the government on the interior is the maintenance
of law and order and to protect the liberty of the common person, not to
impose standards of morality on its citizens. The government needs to disinvest
itself from the infrastructure of the country.
-Opposes the death penalty--one in seven people executed are later
proven innocent!
-Opposes the constitutional changes needed to usher in the fifth republic--liberty
can be protected within the current system
DEFENSE: Neoliliania needs to combat, however it can, the Imperialistic
advances of other, larger countries, in our area, and vexwide. Funding
should remain as-is.
-Neutral on the subject of NBC
EXTERIOR: Neoliliania should actively combat the forces of imperialism
in our world. It should enter into alliances with other, anti-imperialist
nations.
-supports the UPRMI
-strongly supports West Uhlan, allies in our fight against Westria
and Zartania!
-neutral on the current Ulanovan government -strongly opposes KTZ,
strongly opposed to their intervention in Rio Nolo and Maryport
-supports the FCC and it's member states, however, issues need to be
raised with Drinomar concerning the liberties of its citizens
-supports independence for Western Goramia
-supports independence for Melga, at any cost!
-supports breaking relations with Westria, opposes Westrian influence
in the area -supports closer relations with Estontetso; against land exchange--historically
Neoliliani lands in that country should be granted independence as a sister
state to Neoliliania
-strongly opposed to annexation of Ennes--area should be formed into
one or more independent countries
-supports recognition with emerging states
-supports a Longerathan League so long as Westria or Zartania won't
be given a seat
-supports the recognition of Syattica as government of Danica
-neutral on the Valarium Pact subject
-supports a formal Neoliliani-Draconian military alliance
Leader: Wyenny Avyn, Leadership 5
The daughter of a Estontetsan immigrant and a Gorami separatist, Ms.
Avyn is a young activist. She is an impassioned public speaker, and is
respected for being tough, composed, and opinionated. She has a degree
in Foreign Affairs.
Slogans: "An imperialised Neoliliania today is a non-existent Neoliliania tomorrow." and "End the cult of the omnipotent state".
The Socialist Party broke away from the Communist Party about 40 years ago to provide a moderate alternative in the left. Its lack of success in that role, compared to other nations with socialist parties, is almost certainly due to the presence of the competing Liliani Movement. The Socialist Party has tried vainly to show people that their positions are in fact quite different, and that the Socialist Party is more stable, but the Liliani Movement remains the larger party, and the Socialists may be facing their last election unless something can turn their fortunes around.
FINANCE: Spending needs to be increased, especially on health care and education. The tax system is hopelessly mismanaged, with loopholes that the wealthy use to avoid paying their fair share; these need to be addressed.
INTERIOR: New national programs are needed; the infrastructure is badly
in need of repair in some areas of the country, and whole industries, such
as the vital steel industry, is falling behind other industrialized nations
in its capacity and techniques. Corruption in the beaurocracies also needs
to be fought wherever it is found!
-Against the death penalty
-Supports the constitutional changes needed to usher in the Fifth Republic
DEFENCE: The military needs to be toned down. The world is not at war.
There is restlessness on the border, and Neoliliana is by no means safe
from war, but such a huge presence is not required by any means - especially
at the cost of jobs and health care!
-Against maintaining any form of NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical)
weapons in the country.
EXTERIOR: The world is becoming a global village, and we would be fools
not to jump on the bandwagon. With closer ties to our neighbours, we reduce
the risk of invasion and we can further reduce our military. With closer
ties with distant, heretofore ignored nations, we can increase trade and
sustain a higher standard of living for all Neoliliani citizens.
-Supports the UPRMI
-Against West Uhlan
-Against the military government of Ulanova
-Supports Eastern Zartania; supports their intervention in Maryport
-Supports the FCC and its members
-Against independence for Western Gorami
-Supports independence for Melga
-Supports closer ties with Westria
-Supports Estontetso; willing to discuss land trade
-Wants to bring stability to Maryport by sending peacekeepers through
the United Nations
-Supports recognition of emerging states
-Supports the idea of a Longerathan League
-Supports the recognition of Syattica as government of Danica
-Supports the Valarium Pact
-Supports stronger ties with Draconia

The son of a controversial banker, White has extensive holdings in

but unexciting.
Slogan: "Equality in socialism."
The Green Party is an environmentally aware political movement. It has not caught on in Neoliliana, whose largest industry is steel, with other heavy metals and coal hot on its heels. To date, the Green Party has been unable to achieve major party status, or even to get a single senator elected! Support is so disparite, and often comes from the intellectuals, and hence is extremely limited. The Green Party is hoping for a "white knight" foreign power to take up its cause and support it with contributions, perhaps another Green Party more successfully adapted to its own nation. So far, there has been no support. It has also attempted to make inroads into alliances with the other left-wing parties of Neoliliana, but they, for the most part, have treated the Green Party like an outsider, and refused to make agreements with it. It has hence been shut out of elections, and never even been able to influence government policy, let alone kibitz as an opposition party. The leader, Calen Baker, still hopes to find a powerful sponsor and change all that, but he's running out of time. In many countries, the Greens have been afraid of being labelled Communists; in Neoliliana, they would actually gain support from doing so.
FINANCE: Spending needs to be increased, especially in environmental regulation and controls. With some simple, high-cost changes, we can create low-cost improvements to the power structure, to industry, and to transportation in Neoliliana, but the money has to be spent now!
INTERIOR: Programs desperately need to be invoked providing for national
parks in the little wilderness remaining in the country, restoring the
environment, cleaning up the air and water, and finding new alternatives
to dumping.
-Against the death penalty
-Neutral on the subject of the constitutional changes needed to usher
in the Fifth Republic
DEFENCE: The military is a good place to start in finding fat to trim
from the budget. It would be foolish to eliminate it entirely, but cutting
down on useless exercises will save fuel -and- free up the budget for more
healthy alternatives that can genuinely enhance quality of life in Neoliliana!
-Strongly against maintaining NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) weapons!
EXTERIOR: New links need to be forged with the outside world. The current
policy of isolationism is only a short-term bandage, but the interventionalist
politics of former First Minister Harper were flawed. Peaceful agitation
is the only answer to international crises.
-Supports the UPRMI
-Against West Uhlan
-Against the military government of Ulanova
-Againsts Eastern Zartania; against their intervention in Maryport
-Neutral on the subject of the FCC and its members
-Neutral on the subject of independence for Western Gorami

-Neutral on the subject of Westria
-Neutral on the subject of Estontetso; willing to talk with them about
border changes
-Neutral on the subject of Maryport and Ennes
-Supports recognition of emerging states
-Supports the idea of a Longerathan League
-Against the recognition of Syattica as government of Danica
-Strongly supports the Valarium Pact!
-Neutral on the subject of Draconia
Leaders: Calen Baker, Leadership 5

and wealth to start a successful investment firm in Vaupel. He is a graduate
of the Academy, with eight years serving in the Defence Forces. He is widely
regarded as trustworthy, capable, and skilled.
Slogan: "For the Children."
One Cruis is a Cruistian political organization whose goal is to replace the current constitution of Neoliliana with a more Cruistian one, and to govern solely by Biblical methods. They have, understandably in such a republican nation, not gotten very far, but that doesn't stop them from trying very hard. The government, for the most part, tolerates them as a political entity, rather than facing them as a terrorist group.
FINANCE: Churches should be tax-free. Donations to churches should count as charitable donations. Spending on health care and education need to be increased.
INTERIOR: The state needs to be strengthened to deal with delinquents
in society! Furthermore, social work in Neoliliana is scattered and impotent.
Social organizations should be gathered under the wing of mother church.
The Church used to be the hospital and school for free; it should be allowed
to run the state-sponsored schools and hospitals again in keeping with
Cruistian practices. Abortion must be made illegal.
-Supports the death penalty. An eye for an eye.
-Supports the constitutional changes needed to usher in the Fifth Republic.
Believes in a Fifth Republic where all people accept the rule of Yezu the
God.
DEFENCE: The military should be cut back and its monies redistributed
amongst the poor.
-Against maintaining NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) weapons
EXTERIOR: No changes needed.
-Against the UPRMI -Strongly against West Uhlan!

Cruistian Democratic
Party (PDC)
Left wing minor party
Popularity: 2
The Cruistian Democrats are an attempt to bridge the gap between church and state. Cruistianity held sway as the official religion of the Liliani Empire for centuries, and the vast majority of people in Neoliliani today who are religious classify themselves as Cruistian. But secularism and athiesm are both sponsored by the government, strongly influenced by republican and anti-clerical attitudes. Until the 50s, religious parties were banned according to the constitution. That was changed in the late Third Republic, and the Cruistian Democrats arose as a moderate Cruistian party who attempted to use the Cruistian ideal in politics, rather than the more theocratic interpretation of the One Cruis movement (c.f.). Despite its moderate outlook, the Cruistian Democrats have been thoroughly rebuffed by the establishment. With no corporate sponsors, they rely on scattered collections by churches, who, paying taxes, are unable to contribute much. Furthermore, support within the Cruistian community is split between those who believe that church and state should be separate, and those who support one of the two Cruistian parties. The Cruistian Democratic Party continues to try to reach the masses through idealistic, democratic and thoughtful policies, advice, and promises, but the memories of the Neoliliani people are long, and they have not put their faith in the PDC. Apparently, however, the Democratic Party has - Chancellor Aya Warden invited Sorad's PDC to become part of the new governing coalition, although he and his fellow Senator did not make up a large portion, or receive any honours.

and special forces with weapons designed for crowd control are abominations!
The military is out of hand, and needs cutting back now, before it is too
late!
-Strongly against maintaining NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) weapons!

Lelane Burovian Movement (UBL)
Centre minor party
Popularity: 0
The UBL reflects the philosophies and approach of the highly successful Bureau of Westrian Affaires (BWA), which peacefully governs the Westrian Realm, with its multitude of ethnic groups and religions. The philosophy and leadership style of the BWA has since its inception long surpassed the notion of being a purely "Westrian" entity - instead, the global movement towards a similar style of leadership has taken a very strong foothold - Burovianism is a planetary success story. Burovianism is not just for Westrians, as has been proven in the Realm, where Maeru, Deuco, Koban, Niokolan, Kongren, Kildan, Dignanian, and soon Kalesthesian and many other nationalities have found a way to peacefully co-exist with equal representation, and under the competent professional management of an organization that is not based on special interests and popularity contests, but unbiased and mature leadership, based on pure qualification and performance. Like the communist and fascist movements that have found footholds on our planet, the Burovian ideals quickly gain support in nations all over Vexillium, with the notable exeption that Burovianism comes without the radical disadvantages of the other two philosophies. Burovian fractions have emerged in areas and nations where no Westrian population exists at all. The BWA has not actively supported the creation of these political groups in nations other than the Realm (with the exception of IWK), but once they were founded, has given its commitment to financially and ideologically support the movement in all elections where the local Burovians participate. As such, and as the first spotlight Burovian movement putting in a candidacy in a significant non-Realm nation, the UBL enjoys excellent funding and guaranteed air time on the internationally seen cable and satellite networks based in the Westrian Realm, such as ChenTV and the like, which can also be seen widely in Neoliliana and Western Gorami. Previous Burovian candidacies in Davenport and IWK have yielded mixed results, with the BWA actually gaining the majority of votes in IWK, but lacking any mentionable result in Davenport, where the campaign was short and moreover underfunded. The Burovian movement is not only supported by most of the Westrians living in Neoliliana and Western Gorami, but by many progressive intelligent individuals who are looking for a better way to build a world, a new ideology of peace, prosperity, and liberty, who reject militarism and the old and tired concepts of government and the radical philosophies of communism and fascism, as well as the notions of left and right. Burovianism is what's next - 269 million rich and satisfied people in the Westrian Realm are the living proof!
FINANCE: the Burovian ideal is all-out competitive antitrust capitalism, and fast industrialization of depressed areas through sustainable yield resource management, and immediate capital re-investment. The Burovian economy is fuelled by the collaboration of individual corporations, whose sum always is greater than its components. The Burovian leadership encourages certain beneficial economic trends through government commissions and "legislative" breaks. The duty free naval registry and several tax-free zones and free trade regions (such as Oost-Otago and Montroy) further stimulate what is today the most formidable global economic superpower, the Westrian Realm. The LBM will encourge heavy investments and joint ventures with Realm corporations in Neoliliana and Western Gorami, and implement a rigorous system of capitalist prosperity, as well as the establishment of a Free Trade Zone inside the boundaries of the Lelane nation.
INTERIOR: LBM, along the usual Burovian ideals, will de-emphasize and equalize the ethnic differences and tensions between various groups within the nation, and re-focus the peoples' energies on collaboration and prosperity under the Burovian ideals of freedom and peaceful co-existence. Every citizen has the equal rights and responsibilities, and the LBM draws talent from all regions of Vexillium, without discrimination OR affirmative action. Each group is solidly represented by elected resident professional consultants, and will be taken in by the LBM as part of their professional team. Look at the bigger picture - everybody's needs will be addressed in an unbiased and matter-of-factly manner. The basic policy is liberal and common sense. However, Burovian Law calls for "Two Strikes You're Dead" policy, which has proven most efficient in the reduction of violent crime, and the increased cost-efficiency of maintaining full-time convicted prisoners. Burovian movements support the CRUXIST philosophy of religious co-existence. Supports the peaceful joining of Ennes to our nation through treaty, and the rapid economic development of that depressed and underdeveloped region under Burovian Free Trade principles.
DEFENSE: The Burovian ideal is one of strength through neutrality. Burovian means neutral. Neutral means peace. Peace means that valuable resources can be diverted to much more important tasks such as education, economic growth and development, scientific research and technological advancement, globalism, humanitarian and social aid, etc. "Alii Bella Gerant." The LBM will support a re-organization of the Lelane military, cutting costs to a minimum, and creating a strong, yet completely defensively oriented, military force. LBM supports the Valarium pact and membership in the ANNV. Supports the renaming of "Neoliliana and Western Gorami" to "Lelane" to eliminate ethnic division. Supports the peaceful joining of Eastern Gorami to a Burovian Lelane through treaty.
EXTERIOR: Burovian ideals are all about international collaboration and peaceful co-existence. The policy of neutrality means non-interferance into the matters of other nations, and friendly and mutually prosperous relations with all nations. Burovian ideology supports relentless investment in foreign economies, especially those who are in an underdeveloped or vegetative state. Several nations, such as Niokolo Koba and Ordland, previously economic outhouses, were thus able to turn around and become more or less fully developed and highly profitable economies, with their people and standard of living benefitting tremendously. LBM will support the immediate disinterest of Lelane in any matters surrounding the Lendian or former Confederacy region, abrogate any military pacts or committments, and convert the membership in the FCC to one of strictly non-military nature. ANNV membership will be sought. Close collaboration and partnership with Burovian sister state Westrian Realm will be advocated. Burovian ideology prohibits military action other than in self-defense OR to come to the aid of a fellow ANNV member nation under illegal attack from an aggressor. Supports a degree of autonomy under Burovian leadership for Western Gorami. Supports border realignment talks with Estontetso. Supports recognition of and the economic investment in emerging states. Supports the idea of a Longerathan League. Opposes the formation of military pacts and organizations. Supports human rights globally. Supports acting as impartial international mediator between conflicting parties, and finding diplomatic solutions to conflict.

Goramian businessman Dai Fulteron is the founder and top candidate

of Estontetsan heritage, who also runs her own e-commerce business, they
form a young, dynamic, succesful and culturally diverse duo that embodies

Free Democratic Party (PDF)

Popularity: 5
The Free Democratic Party, like several other parties, started as a faction of the Democratic Party that grew too far to one side, and set out on its own. The Free Democratic Party is slightly more outspoken than the Democrats, a safe alternative to more radical parties. They pride themselves on being moderates 'who care', and always take the moral high ground. Since the unusual intervention by Ciena, the PDF was asked by Chancellor Warden to form the basis of the new government - a natural ally of the Democratic Chancellor, but a surprising move, considering the limited support of the PDF. First Minister Black has been unable to stick to his party's moral promise thanks to the widespread and very strongly right-wing coalition, but with the new respect gained by his sudden elevation, hopes to be able to gain enough power to put together a more moderate coalition and retain his position.
FINANCE: Tax loopholes should be plugged, and welfare cheats located and stopped. Spending must go down, and cheats, fraud, and corrupt officials place a drain on the public coffers.

DEFENCE: The military is the pride of the nation, and a hallowed institution.

Estontetsan Independence
Party (I/E)
Centre minor party
Popularity: 3
Estontetsan Independence is the voice of Estontetsan people in Neoliliana. There are three million people of Estontetsan background living legally in Neoliliana in selected areas of the Chantilles, where they border Estontetsan republics. There is estimated to be another one million migrant workers from Estontetso, with short-term visas, and up to two million illegal immigants. This technically makes them the third largest minority in Neoliliana, but unlike the rich Lendians or the special-status Gorami, the Estontetsans have little to no real power in Neoliliana today. Ethnic Estontetsans are some of the poorest Neoliliani citizens, and the government does not look out for their interests - poor, largely uneducated workers (because they often do not speak Neoliliani or Gorami, Estontetsans have trouble finding placements in Neoliliani schools). The Estontetsan Independence Party was formed by just such a group of poor workers. It took a long time to gain support, even from the Estontetsan population, because many have a hard time voting (voting polls are not offered in Estontetsan, only the two official languages), many are not knowledgeable about politics and are thus unable to answer the questions well, and officials, wary of the many illegal immigrants, are harsh about demanding identification from Estontetsans; there have been repeated claims of brutality and forced voting in the polls, but the claims have never been substantiated by independent witnesses, and the government cracks down on such outbursts. Estontetsan Independence is a party whose stated goal is to join the isolated pockets of Estontetsans living in the same hills and valleys that their great-great-grandparents lived in, to the assorted republics of Estontetso where their brethren - often cousins or other relatives - live and work. Recognizing the futility of such a demand on its own in the nationalist federal state, the party has recently been taking a different tack, suggesting that Estontetso would be willing to trade areas that are ethnically Neoliliani in return for the Estontetsan pockets.
FINANCE: The government needs to channel massive amounts of guilders into the Chantilles, to help bring the standard of living there up to norms emjoyed in Kagere and Allayne.
INTERIOR: The nation-state is a sham, which does not face up to the
challenges presented in the modern world. It needs to be reconstructed
from the bottom up if it is to survive the coming changes in the world.
-Against the death penalty
-Supports the constitutional changes needed to usher in the Fifth Republic
DEFENCE: The military is an instrument of brutality used by the state
to guarantee its stability. There are few Estontetsans in the armed forces,
and fewer who have achieved noncomissioned rank. The military should be
reduced in size.
-Against maintaining NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) weapons
EXTERIOR: New links need to be forged with the outside world. The current
policy of isolationism is only a short-term bandage, but the interventionalist
politics of former First Minister Harper were flawed. Peaceful agitation
is the only answer to international crises.

Slogan: "Act now!"
The Democratic party takes its name from the Democratic ideal espoused by the revolutionaries that founded the First Republic. The party itself traces its roots to the Second Republic. It is a very moderate party that doesn't take many chances. It manages to garner a respectable proportion of the vote by being a voice for moderation, and because of its popularity and tolerance, it has made up a part of every single successive government in Neoliliana in the Fourth Republic.
FINANCE: Increase spending to increase jobs and to lessen the effects of the recession.
INTERIOR: Favours the status quo; business and labour have a working
agreement, and there is no need to make radical changes.
-Favours the death penalty.
-Favours maintaining the Fourth Republic. Why change a proven success?
DEFENCE: The armed forces should be cut in size and scope; Neoliliana
does not need to spend the billions of guilders it does when it is suffering
from a recession. The nation is not at war, and has been at peace with
its neighbours for years. Maryport's instability is its own, not ours.
-Favours continued maintenance of NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical)
weapons, including a nuclear arsenal, for self-defence.
EXTERIOR: Neoliliana should remain a regional power, not attempting
to match Westria or Eastern Zartania. Neoliliana should be an active partner
with its neighbours in maintaining peace in Longerath and the Western Isles.
-Supports maintaining relations with the UPRMI, but not supporting
its policies

-Neutral on the subject of Estontetso; willing to discuss land exchange
-Against the annexation of Esses (Maryport); prefers to leave Maryport
to its own devices
-Supports recognition of selected emerging states on a case-by-case
basis
-Neutral on the subject of Longerath
-Supports recognition of Syattica as de facto government of Danica
-Against signing of the Valarium Pact
-Supports stronger relations with Draconia on a limited basis

Gorami Separatist Party
(GSP)
Centre minor party
Popularity: 9
Goramia was an independent nation for longer than there has been a Neoliliana. It was divided between the Emperor of the Liliani Empire and the king of Kagere in an unholy alliance, and later, when Kagere itself was absorbed into the ever-growing Liliani Empire, Cambrai (Western Gorami) was part of Liliana Minor. With the fall of Empire, Goramia once again enjoyed a renewed independence, but not for long. After the Revolution in Neoliliana, the victorious revolutionaries invaded their neighbours under the premise of 'uniting all Liliani people'. In the process, they conquered the totally different Gorami people living in Western Gorami, and added it to the kingdom. After its defeat at the hands of Estontetso, the Gorami people rejoiced, expecting their freedom, or to be unified with Eastern Gorami within Estontetso, but to their surprise and dismay, they were sold off to the Neoliliani. Since that dark day, Gorami have been ruled by a foreign people, from a foreign capital. Gorami make up over 20% of the total population, a not-insignificant number - their three states have a high population density despite the mountainous terrain, and Cambrai is the site of most of the heavy metals of Neoliliana, and thanks to that lucky fact, a heavily industrialized sector - with all its pollution and problems. Nevertheless, with federal subsidies included, the Gorami people actually enjoy a standard of living of 102% the norm for Neoliliana, but perhaps because of this, many believe they are unfairly treated, and would do better on their own, without Neoliliana. Those who believe this make up the supporters of the Gorami Separatist Party, a political party whose stated goal is to break up the country by seceding one-fifth of the republic. It is only in the last 50 years that the party has been able to operate legally, and even now, it falls under suspicion. So far, however, terrorist action has been confined to a few, isolated incidents, but police and the military are uneasy when it comes to the GSP. The Gorami people speak their own language (with a proper forward-grammar, as opposed to the Neoliliani backwards-grammar), have different tendencies towards religion, and have their own, vibrant culture.
FINANCE: Taxes need to be cut, transfer payments increased, and Gorami cultural programs subsidized if the federalists expect the Gorami people to stay in their choking regime.
INTERIOR: The country does not function as an independent entity. It
should be redesigned from the ground up to take account of geographic,
ethnic and political realities, including the fact that Goramia is not
part of it.
-Supports the death penalty
-Supports the constitutional changes needed to usher in the Fifth Republic
DEFENCE: Only Gorami units should be stationed in Cambrai. To do otherwise
is an affront against the Gorami people. Gorami should be allowed to opt
out of serving mandatorily in the national army for a foreign cause on
ethical grounds, and Gorami taxes should not pay for the military.
-Supports maintaining NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) weapons in
Goramia.
EXTERIOR: Opening up relations with the rest of the world is an inevitable
step in recognizing the diversity of the world, and all people's indominable
right to live by their own rules.
-Supports the UPRMI
-Supports West Uhlan as a struggle against oppression

Social Republican Party
(PRS)
Centre minor party
Popularity: 1
The Social Republicans broke off from the Republican Party in 297 amidst the confusion of the war in Estontetso, in an attempt to capture the centre, moderate voters from both Democratic and Republican parties, who were both spectacularly unsuccessful at dealing with the uncertanties of the day. In that, it failed equally spectacularly, failing to capture more than a bare minimum of votes. It has since hung on, but has not managed to make inroads in Neoliliani politics. Many believe it is time that leader Werryl Farrier admitted defeat and returned to the Republican Fold; the problem is whether or not Harper and company will accept Farrier, or whether his politics have diverged too much.
FINANCE: Taxes need to be slashed to encourage growth in industry and so that more private citizens will seek to become entrepreneurs within Neoliliana, rather than the best and brightest leaving for brighter pastures in Lendia, Piolhosa, or Westria.
INTERIOR: The system works; why change it?
-Supports the death penalty!
-Supports the constitutional changes needed to usher in the Fifth Republic
DEFENCE: The armed forces are one of the pillars from which a society,
a nation grows. Other nations that have cut back on their military have
suffered when it came time to be tested; some who gave freely found themselves
mastered by their former servants. Let us stick to the middle path, and
keep our present policies.
-Against maintaining NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) weapons
EXTERIOR: New alliances must be made, and new borders opened, if we
are to compete in the global market. Neoliliana needs allies and trading
partners more than it needs to defend its own lagging industries. Short
term pain for long term gain.
-Supports the UPRMI

Gorami Democratic Party
(GDP)
Centre minor party
Popularity: 20
Goramia has always had strong isolationist feelings, a fact which led to their being extremely slow to develop any political parties of their own within Neoliliana after Western Gorami was absorbed by the First Republic. Amidst a rush of nationalism in the late 1st century BP, Gorami political parties began to appear. Making up only a fraction of the national population, however, these parties could not hope to sustain themselves in federal politics, and after a brief surge, most died out or formed unions with each other. The result of one such union was the Gorami Democratic Party, which represented a mélange of different political ideologies and eventually huddled towards the centre. It consistently outperformed the Democratic Party, but the two similar parties generally lost to the Republican or Separatist parties in Western Gorami until, in the Third Republic, the two parties agreed to an alliance - the Democratic Party did not run candidates in Goramia, and the GDP supported the Democratic Party in the Senate. With the new proportional representation rules, the reasoning behind this alliance is suspect, and political observers wonder if the GDP can survive as a political entity. Other parties are looking nervously at the future of the GDP; if it fails, it is likely that its supporters will flee towards the Gorami Separatist Party rather than other parties.
FINANCE: The federal government needs to drastically increase transfer-of-budget monies to Western Gorami ("Cambrai") and promise a federal support plan to increase spending across the nation.
INTERIOR: State-owned industries have a history of being outperformed
by private sector businesses. Most especially in difficult economic times
such as this, the government has a mandate to sell off all public industries!
Government and business are like church and state - two separate entities!
-Supports the death penalty
-Against the constitutional changes needed to usher in the Fifth Republic
DEFENCE: Military spending is too high. It should be cut back to more manageable levels. -Supports the NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) strategic stockpiles. Would like more nuclear weapons to be stationed in Cambrai.

THE POLITICAL RIGHT
Monarchist Party (PMN)
Right wing minor party
Popularity: 12
Perhaps the oldest political party in Neoliliana, the Monarchist party traces its roots back to members of the nobility who supported the Delaste dynasty that ruled the Kingdom of Neoliliana. After the uneasy truce afforded by the death of the king and his family in the battle of Mizeret, the remaining loyalist armies, led by many of the aristocracy that had not been with the king, sued for peace. As a result, they did not truly lose power, but rather became disenfranchised nobles, landowners, merchants and scholars - and politicians. In the first years of the Republic, the aristocratic faction of the Senate was so pronounced that it formed the very idea of parties, instituted in the Second Republic. The Monarchist Party had a stated goal of reinstating the king and the titles of the nobility; it came close several times to achieving control of the Senate and its goal. During that time, it spoke for the landowners and the wealthy, and as a result was the voice of conservatism in Neoliliana. This changed after the plague; the power of the landowning elites was broken, and the Republican Party, before only a significant faction of the Democratic Party, took over the mainstream right. Although the Monarchists have continued to gain support from diverse sources, they have not been able to mount a significant challenge to the major parties for over a hundred years, and most are inclined to ignore them as a fringe party of lunatics. Others, however, dream of the lost days of glory, and wish for the honour and glamour of royalty. The current heir to the throne is the Prince of Allayne (the southwestern province of Neoliliana, whose borders closely match that of the former Kingdom of Auria), Calenor Allayne, a 53-year old professor of sociopsychology at the Seele Institute.
FINANCE: Corporate and personal income taxes should be lowered to encourage investment of capital gains.

-Against the constitutional changes needed to usher in the Fifth Republic
DEFENCE: Believes in a stronger military, but is against mandatory conscription.
Wants to make military service a requirement for immigrants.
-Supports the NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) strategic stockpiles.
EXTERIOR: Neoliliana is a small fish in a huge pond. Unless it wants
to stagnate and never be a world power, it has to abandon its misguided
isolationist policies and open itself up to free trade worldwide, regardless
of politics.
-Supports the UPRMI
-Against West Uhlan

-Strongly supports the FCC and its members!

Slogan: "The Second Revolution is for All of Us!"
The Republican party takes its name from the Republic, the idealized government of the revolutionaries, in contrast to the Kingdom of the loyalists. The PRN is a moderate right-wing party, considered by many to be the only true right-wing alternative. It is probably due to this fact that it has gained so much popularity. It is also a traditional party which traces its roots back to the Second Republic, and has made up several governments since.
FINANCE: Wait out the recession; government policy should be a rock against which the storm of boom and bust breaks itself on. Panicky measures lead to panicky economies.
INTERIOR: The government has invested too heavily in the infrastructure

in other nations, are allowed to be private, allowing competition and freeing
up funding for other areas.
-Favours the death penalty.
-Favours constitutional changes to usher in the Fifth Republic.
DEFENCE: Increase funding to the armed forces to protect Neoliliana
in a sea of turmoil and continue current policy of intervention in neighbouring
countries that request assistance.
-Favours continued maintenance of NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical)

Nationalist Party (PNN)
Right wing minor party
Popularity: 4
The Nationalist Party claims to be one of the oldest parties in Neoliliana, tracing its roots back to the imperialistic movements of the 4th century BP. The ideal of nationialism was that all people who were ethnic Neoliliani - all the Kageri, Auranni, Daseme, Eshi, Makud, Qellan, Relloi and Tazothi peoples united into one. After the revolution in 323 BP, nationalistic fervour swept the new republic of Neoliliana and revolutionary armies quickly conquered Kagere, Western Gorami, and Estontalle - the latter of which was to be their downfall, as the kingdom of Estontetso claimed that land as their own. However noble its origins, the Nationalist Party is actually a modern idea, presented as an alternative to the Republican Party by dissatisfied right-wing voters in the 3rd Republic, after the plague. It has consistently gained a large proportion of the vote, until recently. When Neoliliana joined the FCLR, against the wishes of the Nationalists, they lost much prestige and influence. When the arrangement proved to be short-term, the Nationalists believed themselves to be on the brink of total power. Such was not to be the case. The Neolendian and Lendian parties, formed during the FCLR period or shortly thereafter, took away many of the undecided voters of the right away from the Nationalists, leaving them with a rump of dedicated supporters. Although they performed pitfifully in the last election (0.9% of the vote), they managed to secure 9 seats in the Senate with that vote, by concentrating their votes in important, marginal ridings. Under the new rules, it's clear the Nationalists stand to lose all that, unless they can regain their lost supporters from the radical right.
FINANCE: Higher tariffs are needed to protect local industry.

and now is our chance to provide them with it, by spending excess money
on work programs for the poor and unemployed.
-Supports the death penalty
-Against the constitutional changes needed to usher in the Fifth Republic
DEFENCE: The armed forces serve to defend us from the chaos all around
us. Maryport had a weak military and it has succumbed to weakness and disintegrated.
To avoid the same fate, and to avoid suffering from the war going on in
Maryport and in Lendia, we must build and maintain a strong guard at all
costs!
-Supports maintaining NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) weapons
EXTERIOR: Neoliliani industry is dying, mainly because of unfair competition
from overseas. How are honest employers supposed to compete with slave
labour from the UPRMI when selling to the domestic market? We need higher
tariffs immediately! The world around us is crumbling; rather than getting
more involved in their problems, we should remain here, safe and secure
within our own borders, to wait out this era of madness.

With 4% of the population ethnic Lendian/Piolhosan, Lendians make up the third largest minority in Neoliliana today, behind Liliani and Gorami. Thanks to the policies of the largely-Lendian based FCLR, many Lendians immigrated to Neoliliana in a manner which some independent reporters called "Colonizing." Lendians have had a foothold in Neoliliana for over a millennium, however, raiding the region by sea and eventually settling along the coast. After the breakup of the FCLR, many Lendians chose to remain in Neoliliana, and they enjoy a significantly higher standard of living than the general population. For this reason, they are often hated and despised, and their communities are close-knit and rich - the right combination to weild political power far in excess of their size. The Lendian Party makes no bones about representing Lendians in Neoliliana. Although it has a very limited voter base, it always attracts some non-ethnic Lendians to its cause - mostly so called mulattos and those who rely on Lendian business. It is considered a minor party at best, but an important indicator of big business and industry. With the new proportional representation rules in effect, the Lendian community is worried that their party may disappear entirely, without the necessary 5% support to become a full fledged party. Some members of the community have talked about switching to the Neolendian party, or even forming a union with a non-ethnic party.

Lendian Nationalist
Party (LNP)
Far right minor party
Popularity: 0
With more than 4% of the population being ethnic Lendian/Piolhosan and Neolilliana having a long a prosperous history of contacts with the Lendian west, the top issue of the agenda of the Lendian Nationalist Party is to undo the break up of the Confederacy. This would put an end to both the economic and security problems the republic is facing. Vague formulations by prominent party members indicate that if a Neolilliana back into a Confederacy is not possible, a Lendian state of its own on the Neolillianan coast, closely accosiated with other Lendian states like the Tiger Republics, might be the second best solution. The Lendian Nationalists was formed by a faction leaving the Neolendian party which wasn't seen as working hard enough to restore the Confederacy and protect Lendian values.
FINANCE: The economy has gone into a deep recession after the break up of the Confederacy. Wars and tariffs have cut off companies from their trading partners. The root of the finansial financial troubles is the break up and the economy is not likely to improve within the forseeable future, unless the historical ties between Neolilliana and the other Lendian states, one way or another are rebuilt.
INTERIOR: The next generation must be brought up to support the traditional
family values and Cruistian faith, which is the foundation of western civilisation
and our safeguard against the separatism, communism and general anarchy
that have spread out through the former Confederacy.
-Supports the death penalty
-Wishes to replace the Republic with a state in a reborn Lendian Confederacy.
DEFENCE: With Neolilliana standing on its own it needs a stronger military
to be able to defend itselves against the threat of the revolutionaries
that operate in different neighbouring countries. The best and cheapest
solution to the problem would be a reborn Confederacy to protect common
interests.
-The NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) strategic stockpiles should
be destroyed as agreed upon as the Confederacy was dissolved.
EXTERIOR: The break up of the Confederacy was a big mistake, leading
to turmoil as foreign and regional interests compeated for power on the
expense of ordinary citizens. In Kunn Fedoron, Khor Islands, Cabotenia
and Teniasa the republic has fallen to monarchist minorities, leading to
that ordinary people were forced to flee there home. In Percevejani, Coceira
and Lok, Uhlanian revolutionaries infiltrated, took over power and are
presently breaking down society, family values and religous faith. The
situation is not much better on the Maritimian Islands and Lombriga has
become a colony. All this has to be stopped before it spreads to our country.

-Poitive to signing the Valarium Pact
-No policies regarding Draconia
Leader: Enrico Candasoro, Leadership 5
After a successful military career, Candasoro has withdrawn from military
to take over the running of the family holdings. The Candasoro family is
a wealthy family with long traditions that have lived in Neolilliana for
many generations. His military background has made him a firm leader, always
able to make fast well thought-out decisions.
Slogan: "Backed by God and Lendia - Towards a properous future for all."
The Neolendian power is a hard-line, right-wing party that has strong roots in the short period of Neoliliani membership in the FCLR. Backed by a small but rich sector of Lendians, as well as many who lost their jobs or influence when Neoliliana regained its independence, this party's stated goal is to rebuild the FCLR. It has been losing some ground with the passing of time since the fall of the FCLR, but gaining more converts than it loses, thanks to the policies of its leader, Ula Verins, who has aimed her strategies at the lowest sectors of Neoliliana's system - the unemployed, the poor, the resentful. With the power and money the Lendians provide, and the sheer numbers she can convince that 'things were better in the old days', Ula packs a powerful punch. Since the Neolendian party appeared last year, the political right has been in tatters. This election could be the time for the right to take back their place - or it could be the final shove the Neolendians need to take power.
FINANCE: Lower taxes immediately on an equal distribution. The people already pay far too many taxes. Neoliliana's taxes are higher than any of its neighbours!
INTERIOR: The government needs to make jobs for the unemployed and increase social security benefits for the poor. -Favours the death penalty as a cheaper alternative to incarceration -Wishes to replace the Republic with a state in the new FCLR. Has not yet mentioned how it plans to do this, but seems to be looking at the new Lendosan union as a ray of hope.
DEFENCE: The armed forces is the best way to provide jobs for the unemployed!
It provides an education for the soldiers, safety and security for the
people! With a strong army behind us, Neoliliana can once again restore
its traditional borders in Estontal and Ennes, and bring back the greatness
we experienced so briefly!
-Favours a massive buildup of NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) weapons,
including a nuclear arsenal, as first-strike weapons
EXTERIOR: The status quo is fine in most cases.
-Against the UPRMI, but accepts its existence
-Against West Uhlan; wishes to guarantee Neoliliani security from communism
through force of arms
-Supports the rightful, present government of Ulanova
-Supports Eastern Zartania; supports their intervention in Rio Nolo
and Maryport, and wishes to join their efforts from the south
-Supports continuing membership in the FCC as a means of restoring
the FCLR
-Against independence for Western Goramia; supports the use of the
military to quell so-called separatist movements and declaring all independence
parties illegal as traitors to the state
-Supports independence for Melga as a war training exercise
-Against further relations with Westria
-Against Estontetso; demands the return of Estontal to its historic
borders
-Supports the annexation of southern Maryport as a buffer state against
the anarchy in Rio Nolo
-Against recognition of emerging states
-Neutral on the subject of Longerath
-Supports recognition of Syattica
-Against signing of the Valarium Pact
-Neutral on the subject of Draconia
