Aviation Artists

who have painted P-38 art

and

produced P-38 limited edition art prints

Attention... Aviation Artists ...A Special Challenge

There are over twenty-five top aviation artists in the world. There are over 100 P-38 Lightning limited edition art prints on the market today.

Yet I do not know of one artist who has painted an F-5 photo-reconn version of the P-38. WHY?

Not one of the over 100 limited edition art prints I know of, is a F-5 print. WHY?

The F-5 was a highly specialized aircraft and contributed significantly to winning WWII. Hundreds of F-5 pilots won medicals and special citations for bravery in these unarmed "spy planes". Many others lost their lives trying to get vital photographs of enemy instillations and positions. These pilots and the F-5 were the pioneers of the U-2 Black Dragons and the SR-71 Blackbirds.

Why has the aviation art industry ignored these valiant pilots and the valuable work they did?

A large P-38 pilots' reunion is planned for

late April - early May in the year 2000.

This will probably be their last reunion.

It would be nice to have this print ready and signed for the reunion...

or sooner.

Thus, I would like to "challenge" an aviaiton artist (or two or three) to contact me and discuss a number of ideas for creating a limited edition aviation art print(s) depicting the F-5 photo-reconn version of Lockheed's famous P-38 Lightning. I know of a number of F-5 photo-recon pilots who would be willing to sign such a print(s).

It would be nice to have a print for each of the four significant theatres of war... Aleutians, Europe, South Pacific, Med-Africa ...where the F-5 flew.

THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR A COMMISSION PAINTING.

However, this is a challenge to the aviaiton art industry and the artists, to honour many brave pilots who have, for too long, been ignored.

Interested artists can contact me... dclass@golden.net
