On the 5758 modelling page I state that the cab on your default plastic SD40-2s needs work. While there are numerous variations in the class light type, placement and presense, numberboard font, cab pipe and of course the antennas (see the antenna page for full details), I wanted to at least provide this photo for your modelling enjoyment. The rain gutter is made by filing off the straight grooves on the Athearn cab and replacing with a slightly bent piece of .010 wire. I suggest floral wire for this. The cab pipe is added by drilling through the bottom of the nose-top and then slipping a pipe of .020 wire through the hole and touching the underside of the bell. Note that the underside of the bell area needs to be filed down to remove the bump. This bump is not found on CP SD40-2s. You can make the mirror with a piece of styrene and the flag brackets are scratchbuilt with a really short piece of floral wire. If you use the Detail Associates part #SB3605 for the 102" nose, the headlight will be included as part of the casting. Sand hatches are MBE part #H6. H&D in Calgary also makes some resin cabs and noses if interested.
