54 Ways You Can Help The Homeless - Overview

VI. What Children Can Do

43. Use Birthday Parties To Help

Scavenger hunts are a favorite activity for a birthday party. Instead of asking the kids to find a red bow tie or a 1956 penny, try having them collect canned food for the homeless, the poor, and for unemployed people.

It's also a great project for a youth group at a church, synagogue, or community center.

The items can be bagged and taken to your local food pantry. Frequently, the stock at many food collection centers runs so low that they cannot supply the needs of those who come for help.
